The return of TAMUK’s favorite spring tradition
Another Spring semester here at TAMUK means another Spring Fling at which students gathered in front of College Hall to enjoy food, music and games.
TAMUK’s Campus Activity Board (CAB) is in charge of planning and hosting the event every year. Executive Board member Sophia Yzaguirre knew firsthand just how much preparation went into Spring Fling.
“We have over 80 student organizations in attendance this year and based off of that count we design the layout and plan ahead for emergencies with fire extinguishers and an electrician on site,” Yzaguirre said.
With so many of TAMUK’s student organizations in attendance many of them hoped to connect with fellow peers and the community, while also fundraising and highlighting themselves. Javelina Camp was one organization in attendance that served quesadillas and Adrian Rios, the director of staff development, noted how impactful Spring Fling can be.
“I enjoy seeing the reaction of families enjoying the food prepared by organizations and seeing the students react to some of the amusements placed by other students,” Rios said.
Hundreds of students attend the event every year and many look forward to the event to see the different organizations in action and of course try out some of the various foods and drinks the clubs sell.
Alexis Cantu was one student in attendance and discussed her opinion of Spring Fling. “I came out to support the organizations on campus and I wanted to get to know them more,” Cantu said.
