On Monday Dec. 23, after a 34 day search a new head coach of the Javelina football team has been named.
The new Head Coach is Scott Parr, the former Co-Offensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech.
Parr has been a coach for over 26 years at major universities like Texas Tech, West Texas A&M, Tarleton State, Baylor University and Sam Houston State.
Parr is honored and excited to become the next Head Coach of the Javelinas.
“I have tremendous respect for the history and tradition of Texas A&M University- Kingsville football. This is the opportune time to be a part of the Javelina family. My family and I are filled with gratitude and look forward to impacting the university, the community, and alumni base to advance the mission of President Dr. Robert Vela and Executive Director of Athletics Michael Salinas. We look forward to winning on and off the field. Go Javelinas!” Parr told the university.
President Robert Vela had nothing but praise to say about Parr.
“He will be a coach who is all in for our program and our student-athletes, and that ensures we can continue to honor the great tradition of Javelina Football,” Vela said.
Former Head Coach and Executive Athletic Director Michael Salinas discussed how Parr’s record for developing leaders on and off the field will immediately impact the program.
Salinas believes Parr is “a proven winner and a dynamic leader” and hopes Parr can take the Javelinas to the “next step.”
Javelina Athletics and Parr will hold an official press conference on Jan 8 McCulley Hall to introduce him to Javelina Nation.
