Desert chic meets music festival

Coachella’s closet

Coachella recently wrapped up its two-weekend festival, and while it’s best known as a music event, it has just as much of a reputation for being a fashion hotspot.

In the early years, there was no official dress code, attendees dressed practically for the desert heat. However, by 2025, Coachella has transformed into one of the most anticipated fashion weekends.

Fashion at the festival has roots in the early days of Tumblr and Instagram, where fans closely followed celebrities wearing Boho-chic styles.

Over the years, the aesthetic shifted, especially following Kendall Jenner’s laid-back approach in 2024. These trends pushed toward more casual, effortless looks.

While comfort remained a priority, especially under the sun, this year’s standout style was a strong western cowboy influence across both celebrities and general attendees, blending relaxed wear with bold, rustic flair.

Given the desert heat, hydration packs, sheer coverups, and utility belts with a fashion twist were everywhere.

TikTok influencers also played a major role in shaping the fashion scene this year. Many partnered with clothing brands in exchange for paid tickets and cabanas, turning their presence into full-on marketing campaigns.

Fans at home eagerly awaited “Get Ready with Me” videos, comparing outfits and drawing inspiration from their favorite creators over the course of the three-day weekends.

The biggest fashion takeaways from Coachella 2025 included rustic metals, warm browns, gold tones, cowboy boots, fringe and stacked accessories.

On day two, the energy shifted as festivalgoers leaned into darker tones, drawing inspiration from ’70s rockstar and early 2000s pop-punk aesthetics. Think leather, black, silver and grunge-inspired looks, just in time for performances by Green Day and Charli XCX.

Coachella remains a cultural landmark and desert runway where fashion, music and individuality collide, setting the stage each year for the upcoming trends in style, culture and sound.
