News has fans confused with emotions
On Jan. 25 at The Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri 40th Anniversary event, it was announced the Dragon Ball Super anime will continue but also it was confirmed that the Beerus arc will reserve a remastered version.
Although the number one question for me and most of the Dragon Ball fandom is, why? What is the point of remaking an already timely relevant arc that was technically already remade. For those who don’t know, the Beerus arc has already had two versions made.
The first to come was the theatrical release of the “Battle of Gods” movie that was released in 2013 and was later followed by an adaptation in the Dragon Ball Super anime’s first 14 episodes. In those episodes it was stated that certain scenes were added as well as a boost in animation so would it be considered a remake. This new Beerus arc remake will focus on pretty much the same thing – new animation, pacing issues and the addition of new animated scenes.
I believe that remaking this arc is not a good idea. I feel that it is in Toei Animation’s best interest to listen to the fans to just continue adapting the story of the manga. It has been since the release of the “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” movie in 2022 where we got a continuation of the manga and left hope in the fans’ eyes to hopefully get a continuation but sadly it never came. This anger was then sparked back up in 2024 with the release of “Dragon Ball DAIMA.” A separate anime story that is still canon to the story but is not a continuation of the Super story. This again caused outrage because fans want more of the super story and in all honesty, I agree.
The manga alone has many iconic moments and characters that me and many other fans wanted to see on a screen like Vegeta using ultra ego, Black Frieza and the Moro arc all together. So, I feel that Toei Animation should just look towards the future of the franchise instead of trying to fix something that really doesn’t need fixing.
