The Texas A&M University- Kingsville Javelina men’s basketball team is having a respectable season so far, after losing eight players from last year. Overall they are 10-10 and 6-6 in the Lone Star Conference (LSC).
The Javelinas are currently in sixth place in the LSC heading into Thursday’s game against Eastern New Mexico. The Javelinas are currently on a three-game losing streak.
A positive for the Javelinas heading into the home stretch of the season is that they are starting to gel at the right time in the season as they are starting to hit on all cylinders.
“I think the kids are locked in and are starting to figure out their roles as a team,” Head Coach Johnny Estelle told Javelina Athletics.
As a team, the Javelinas are averaging 68.8 points a game. The offense has been on a roll throughout the season as most of the team losses so far this season have come down to the final minutes of the game.
Junior Guard Rashon Thomas is leading the team in points per game as he is averaging 9.5. Thomas is also leading the team in three points attempted on the season with 102 and is tied on the team with 32 made three pointers with senior guard Alex Mills.

Freshmen guard Darius Mickens has a team high with 38 steals and has 11 blocks on the season so far with six games remaining.
“It’s the home stretch of the season and it’s put up or shut up time for the Javelinas. Everyone knows who they are now and it’s time to execute coaches’ game plan,” senior guard Mills said.
