Krasinski thrills once again
After suffering a great loss and gaining a new family member, being silent is more important than ever.
A Quiet Place Part II follows the events of the first installment as the Abbott family heads off to the world outside of their infiltrated sanctuary to find safety. After just giving birth, Evelyn and her other two children, Regan and Marcus, come up with a plan to help ensure the newborn’s silence while traveling.
Along the way, an unexpected occurrence takes place that leads the Abbots to finding their old friend, Emmett, who helps them get to shelter before the worst happens.
While settling in, Regan discovers something that may lead them to find more survivors near them that could be calling out for help.
Thinking she can handle being out alone not knowing the mysterious creatures are not the only danger she should be worried about, Regan decides to go with her instincts to find others who could need saving.
Actor and director John Krasinski does not disappoint creating this second installment that can be described as more intense than the first. The audience will be pleased that Krasinski does give answers that some may have had after the first film.
In the beginning of the film, one satisfying moment was a scene of serenity the town experienced before the creatures came as well as how exactly they arrived.
But with questions finally being answered, the film, unfortunately, leaves you with more as it also open-ended, just like the first installment. It was a bit of a disappointment to not be able to see if the Abbotts get their happy ending or not within this apocalyptic thriller.
Unlike the first movie where more attention is given to Regan, the second film does give more spotlight to Marcus as he is given the duty of watching the newborn while having to hide from the creatures.
With more screen time shows more personality, which for the most part was not to my liking as Marcus’ actions of not being discreet and quiet did get on my nerves. But his heroic actions of killing a creature towards the end makes up for most of it.
Another thing that Krasinski added to the film that I admired was the creation of other dangers out in the world other than the creatures. Light is shone on how the end of the world can change humans for the worst and they can become like the creatures themselves.
Not only does the plot keep you watching but the acting throughout the film gives you the sense that you are living it with them. Actress Emily Blunt once again does a terrific job as she portrays a mother whose goal is to stay silent and protect her kids with everything she’s got.
While the actors cannot verbally express how they feel, the visuals that focus on the character’s expressions are enough to know what they think and feel.
Overall A Quiet Place Part II is a must-see thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. If you are interested in watching the film, it is available in theaters now.
