Pancakes and Pajamas is an event hosted by the Staff Council of Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK). The sweet, warm and colorful function took place on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Javelina Student Engagement Center. The event is for the faculty of TAMUK. Even Santa made a special appearance!
Not only are the students of TAMUK going a million miles per hour, but so is the staff of TAMUK. Therefore, the point of pancakes and pajamas was to reward the staff for their hard work throughout the semester.
President of Staff Council, Elissa Guerra has had this annual event going strong for two years and counting. “It’s just a break from all the hustle and bustle and the chance to get everybody together,” Guerra said.
Activities did not only include savoring sweets but also taking photos with Santa, playing “place the ornament on the tree,” Toys for Tots donation and a reading station for the young ones. The Toys for Tots donation zone helps the less fortunate kids in the surrounding areas.
Debbie Branstetter, who is also part of the TAMUK staff council was particularly excited about the Toys for Tots zone. “We are asking for toys so we can benefit Toys for Tots, Kingsville.”
