Allegedly had contact with a minor
Jubilee Athletic Director and Texas A&M University-Kingsville alumnus and once football standout DeIra Allan Glover was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 20, and charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, Improper Relationship between Educator and Student, Online Solicitation of a Minor, and Enticing a Child.
The Combes Police Department received a complaint from a parent of an eleven-year-old girl about inappropriate text messages found on the girl’s cell phone on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The cell phone was examined by police, and investigators allegedly found hundreds of sexually explicit Instagram messages between the young girl and someone only identified as Instagram username “mikep896.” Several of the messages allegedly indicated that the victim and “mikep896” had previously engaged in various sexual activities.
An investigation was initiated to determine the identity of “mikep896” and it was learned by investigators that the individual behind the screen name is allegedly 32-year-old DeIra Allan Glover of Harlingen, according to a press release from the Combes Police Department. Police also said Glover is employed as the Athletic Director of Jubilee Academies in Brownsville and Harlingen. As the investigation continued, it was also learned that Glover was made aware by the victim of her age and that she is a current student at Harlingen, police said. According to the victim, the improper relationship began in early September and continued through October 2020. Glover allegedly contacted her through Instagram. The victim also confirmed alleged sexual contact between herself and Glover, according to police.
Glover attended TAMUK from 2006 through 2010 and he earned a bachelor’s degree. Glover returned in 2011 and completed a master’s degree in December 2014, according to TAMUK. During his time at TAMUK, Glover was part of the Javelina Football team for which he earned numerous accolades.
As a result of these charges and the number of children Glover had access to, the investigation continues police said. If anyone has information regarding inappropriate activities or contact with Instagram username “mikep896,” they are asked to contact the Combes Police Department at (956) 425-7131.
Glover was taken to the Cameron County Jail, according to reports.
In a prepared statement given to news outlets in Harlingen, Jubilee Academies stated that Glover has been terminated.
