Javelinas lose their final game of the year
In a back-and-forth battle that started with a Craig Clemons kickoff return for a touchdown, both teams brought their best out as they clashed for the final time in the 2022 season.
The Javelinas and Western Oregon Wolves exchanged scoring drives through the air and ground as well as punts and defensive stops. Early on it showed that this would be a high scoring game.
At the half, the score was tied at 24-24 as both teams had answers to each other and would not give up too much to the other side from the touchdown and occasional field goal. In the third quarter, the Javelinas seemed to begin to pull something together after the Wolves took a 31-24 lead. A few key defensive stops paved the way for the Javelinas to take a 34-31 lead.
After a big run by Toniel Carter, the Javelinas would eventually settle for another field goal to bring the score up to 37-34 in the fourth quarter.
After multiple big mistakes the Javelinas fell behind 48-37 late. On the last drive of the Javelinas’ season Jacob Cavazos threw a game sealing interception to end the Javelina season.
The Javelinas finish the season 7-4 and cracked the top 25 while being undefeated for almost two months.
