Oscar-winning film shows an artistic narrative
“Poor Things” was recommended to me by my best friend.
She told me several people in her life didn’t understand the movie and how it was an “immature stupid movie.”
This was said by a man who clearly didn’t understand the concept of the movie.
The movie is about a grown woman who has the brain of a toddler. She is surrounded by men who think they can control her because of her underdeveloped brain.
Her “god” is the one who performed the brain transplant because she was brain-dead. Just like in our world, they try to take advantage of a naive girl who needs to discover the world first.
Once she does discover the world and learns to be independent, men start to lose interest and start disrespecting her.
This movie was a cinematic experience that is easily misunderstood by the unusual storyline.
Movies are meant to capture the audiences and create something new that no one expected, this movie was able to do that. Although this movie is unusual and the scenes are strange, the message is still there underneath it all. The best movies are when you depict it and come up with your own thoughts and messages based on the visuals and sounds. That is what makes it art. Some will understand, others won’t.
Emma Stone did a beautiful job in this movie and every award she earned was well deserved.
I think this movie is one of our top movies, and she will forever be remembered for her outstanding acting.
