Our Opinion: AI in classrooms

In recent years, AI has become a big part in the education setting.

The impact of AI on students may be more than what people expect.

With students using this to their advantage to write essays or have it do assignments for them, it will take away the learning experience.

With certain guidelines on AI, it could be used to better someone’s education and help them have a better understanding of what is being taught.

While some may want nothing to do with AI, it’s going to be very difficult to not include it in lesson plans as it evolves and integrates itself into everyday life.

For example, AI allows adapting study materials to the level of each student.

This means that each individual can learn at their own pace, strengthening their weaknesses and advancing in areas in which they show greater ability.

Along with this, AI facilitates student access to high-quality educational resources, regardless of economic status or geographic location.

AI can assess each student’s progress and provide real-time feedback, helping them identify their strengths and areas for improvement.

Students have begun to use ChatGPT as an easy way to write their essays which could ultimately destroy the learning process of a student.

If professors and educators came together to utilize ChatGPT, they could help teach the students and in turn, add to the educational experience of the students rather than allowing AI to complete their work for them.

Let’s find a way to incorporate it better.

AI in classrooms will free up educators’ time and energy for increased student contact benefiting everyone in the class.

AI should be used by professors because it can enhance the learning experience in many ways such as personalized learning exercises.

AI can also grant instant feedback and communication, taking the weight off instructors’ shoulders and helping students get back to work faster.

It could speed up the learning process by planning lectures in advance saving professors time and effort.

The biggest concern is the regulations that we choose to incorporate if someone opts into using AI.

Appropriate regulations could potentially include detailed guidelines for a user’s data privacy, as well as being transparent when it comes to using AI.

We believe incorporating AI will allow students to gain a new perspective on the content being taught in the classroom.

If used properly, there will be an increase in learning as this tool will allow for students to understand the topic rather than using AI to merely complete the assignment.
