‘Civil War’ gives glimpse of what could be through a journalist eye
After watching “Civil War”, I found myself with many questions such as “how did the civil war start? What happened in the other parts of the country? Why is it mentioned that the president disbanded the FBI but never explained why?”
During the movie, a group of journalists drive from New York City to Washington D.C. in order to get an interview with the president.
As they drive through various areas it shows an eerie sensation that seems like a post apocalyptic world full of anarchy and death. This was the part I found the most intriguing as it seemed as the most realistic points of the movie, and it gave you a glimpse as to what a civil war in modern day would look like. They run into a few troubling situations such as three soldiers dumping bodies into a mass grave and most of the group escapes with their lives, but they lose three friends in the process. The group reaches one of the safe points where the Western Forces, which is an alliance made up of Texas and California, as well as The Florida Alliance, which is made up of Florida as well as Georgia, are planning a final attack on D.C.
This was the biggest buildup to what I believed was going to be a big ending but was somewhat disappointed. With the president only having lines of dialogue in the beginning as well as the ending, it felt that he should have been more prominent in the movie as well as the government figures of the states that seceded. Instead of this, it was only briefly mentioned as to what was going on outside the setting of the movie which is where many questions came from and viewers may have similar questions as myself.
Overall, this movie is worth watching but the ending seems to not live up to possible expectations for those who anticipated watching this new movie.
Though the ending might not be as good as those hope for, the cinematography is top tier as well as the actors in the movie, who did a great job in their performances.
