Dragon Ball Super review: Goku’s journey for power

Dragon Ball Super first aired in July 2015 and is an anime made by Japanese writer Akira Toriyama. The last new series of anime we got from the franchise was Dragon Ball GT in 1996, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the release of new content.

Dragon Ball Super takes viewers on a journey following main protagnist Goku and his pursuit to fight the strongest beings in the universe. From challenging Lord Beerus the God of Destruction, to causing the Tournament of Power, Goku is the sole reason for each major plot point in the series.

Dragon Ball Super did a great job of showing how powerful the character Lord Beerus is. The show didn’t do very well with the Battle of Gods scene, but if you want to see Battle of Gods in full effect then go watch The Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie where it is showcased very well.

Dragon Ball Super has its issues, but the great storylines including the Goku Black arc and the Tournament of Power arc truly save this show. My favorite arc in the entirety of the show introduced one of my favorite characters in the series, that being Goku Black. The storyline is a change of pace as not much was happening during this period of the show. The ending of the whole arc was mildly underwhelming, but the huge fight scenes and crazy moments included were enough to make this part of the show my favorite.

Another great arc in this show is the Tournament of Power. Without spoiling too much for those who haven’t seen the show, this arc showcases how powerful Goku is and can become. There are so many great moments in this part of the show and it truly ties the bow on this awesome series that to me is an 8 out of 10.
