South Texan Spotlight

Ronald Grueso Mosquera

Senior Ronald Grueso Moquera, a Columbian native, has been selected as the ‘South Texan Spotlight’ athlete for the issue. From breaking records to collecting gold at conference, Mosquera has done it all so far this season. 

Back in Feb. 11, Mosquera dominated the throw events in Houston, winning the men’s shot put with  a 18.11m, the seventh-longest shot thrown in DII. He also won in two different events at the LSC Championship Meet. He received gold in shot put, with a throw of 18.11m (59.41 ft) and weight throw with a 18.82m (61.75) throw. He even earned the conference’s Men’s Outstanding Field Athlete award for his performance at the conference. Lastly, Mosquera was honored with a selection to participate at the DII Indoor Track and Field Event in Indianapolis, Ind. 

Q: What are your favorite hobbies or interests outside of athletics and academics?

A: Creating some kind of content for the internet, or maybe riding jetski.

Q: Favorite experience/moment at TAMUK?

A: So far at TAMUK it has been meeting wonderful people. Being surrounded by good teammates and good coaches who make the tiwme much happier. 

Q: What does your game day routine look like?

A: My routine is to get plenty of rest and listen to music. Being very focused on the objectives and not losing focus until I achieve them.

Q: What are your goals after college?

A: I want to return home and spend some time with my family so I can recover some time, since I’ve been away from home a lot.
