A new art exhibit is on display at Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLucky Seven,\u201d a faculty-led art show is currently in the Ben Bailey Art Gallery. Art faculty members invite students and members of the community to view their passion taken form in a gallery closing reception that is being held on April 17 from 4. to 6 p.m. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exhibit is available to view currently. Seven artists are participating, each with their own history, medium and outlook on the art world.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEvery artist in any medium; they have their own technique, they have their own style,\u201d Art Studio Technician Homer Ramirez said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In recent years, these gallery shows have been featuring primarily student work or even a special guest artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLucky Seven\u201d is going to be a chance to see what these art teachers are made of. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t only teach, we\u2019re an artist; we make art,\u201d Associate Professor Fulden Wissinger said. \u201cWe need to be mentors to our students; they need to see what we do, what we accomplish.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As you walk through the gallery, you\u2019ll have a first-hand look at what these artists are all about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The closing reception will be an opportunity for those in attendance to hear from the artists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Along with this, there is an open forum for these artists to speak on their work in the moment. This will be the first faculty art show since the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chair of the ACT department Todd Lucas, says, \u201cCovid kind of put an end to several things\u2026 we\u2019re starting to bring stuff back like this.\u201d The gallery is open during regular hours Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
