{"id":10799,"date":"2024-10-21T18:12:46","date_gmt":"2024-10-21T18:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=10799"},"modified":"2024-10-21T18:13:55","modified_gmt":"2024-10-21T18:13:55","slug":"golf-team-on-the-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/21\/golf-team-on-the-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Golf team on the rise"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New beginnings ,new coaches, old records being snapped<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The 2024-2025 fall season for the Javelina golf team has ridden its highs and lows, but its commitment to getting better every day has begun to pay off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Under first year Head Coach Troy Lopez the team has started to play better and is already taking swings to decades\u2019 old records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Lopez knows that building a successful team overnight isn\u2019t a realistic goal, but sees the team beginning to become successful in a lot of aspects of the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe constant quest to keep improving is there and so is trying to implement a culture and a standard. It\u2019s something that\u2019s getting reached as we keep going through the duration of the season. But we\u2019re starting with building blocks, and we\u2019ll keep going forward,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Lopez attributes the success this year to the players wanting to get better every single day and with everything they do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cBeing consistent and learning how to get the most out of the little things. Understanding that everything that we do has a bigger ending and goal to what it is. But if we can\u2019t succeed at doing the little things right, then we\u2019re not going to get to where we eventually want to. So, it\u2019s really about falling in love with the process,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This commitment has already paid off which has brought success to the team and will set up a successful second half of the season in the spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The women have already gone to work on getting better by breaking records at the NCAA National Preview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">According to the Javelina Athletics website, \u201cThese records stood for 10 years which were set back in 2014 the records stood at +32 on the 36-hole record and +41 on the 54-hole record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe Javelinas broke both records by scoring +16 for the 36-hole record and +39 for the 54-hole record.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI like how we are playing as a team. It\u2019s also nice to see many of us have great rounds.
