After the conclusion of midterms and the second half of the semester underway, college deans welcomed students to a Deans Forum to show students they are top priority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students gathered in the Memorial Student Union Building for the Deans Forum on Oct. 30, an event held to allow students to meet with and receive information from the Dean of their respective college. The turnout met expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI feel like if students have an issue this is the perfect time to meet with your dean about academic success, and I believe they could have strayed you down the right path and I\u2019m so thankful for the amount of students we did have here today, and I can\u2019t wait to see in the future if we have even more students,\u201d Student Body President Harley Davis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was an opportunity for a major stakeholder \u2013 students – on campus to make their voices heard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know we always hear the importance of including stakeholders, sometimes we think stakeholders are all the faculty, the staff, the administration but the most important stakeholder we need to consider are the students. This is their education. This is their journey – their journey into their career, and opportunities like this are priceless,\u201d Dr. Linda Villarreal, interim dean of the College of Education and Human Performance, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Texas A&M University-Kingsville has been\u00a0retention throughout every department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have 10 departments across the college and they\u2019re all doing a variety of strategies, plus the college we also have some strategies, we\u2019re doing a lot of events with a lot of focus on informing students on resources, connecting them to each other, and also encouraging them to be successful,\u201d Dr. Dolores Guerrero, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
