{"id":11265,"date":"2025-02-24T19:14:32","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T19:14:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=11265"},"modified":"2025-02-24T22:54:17","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T22:54:17","slug":"par-tee-on-the-green","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/24\/par-tee-on-the-green\/","title":{"rendered":"Par-tee on the green"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Swinging away at Islander Classic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Javelina Women\u2019s Golf team started off their spring season near home in Corpus Christi as they participated in the Islander Classic on Feb. 17 and 18.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Through a three round 54-hole tournament the team overall finished in ninth place after the tournament was over with.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;\u201cOur goal this year is to really figure out, how can we improve for the rest of the duration of the spring season? If you don\u2019t have that improvement by the end of the year it means we\u2019re not succeeding in the categories we want too. So that\u2019s the biggest thing to start off the year how do we improve,\u201d said Troy Lopez, the women\u2019s head golf coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Senior Alessia Rojas had a Top 10 finish shooting 15-over-par 231 for the whole tournament. Dean parred 13 holes, and finished out shooting a 79 in round one making it her best round of the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cJust to be positive. I worked on my irons a lot to make sure I can hit more greens, and I did so today. I just have to work on my putting more. Today I focused on my irons and chipping, and I was very happy with my chipping the whole 54 holes. So, staying positive with the weather conditions we had today and just having fun honestly. In Miller\u2019s round three she would shoot a 78 for her best round of the tournament. I think they\u2019ll self-evaluate their game and where they stand. There were some great moments out there whether hole to hole stretches that were fantastic, and maybe some other holes that were not as fantastic. So, every one of the girls understands where they are, kind of a baseline point.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Javelinas participated in the Women\u2019s rattler invitational at the Dominion Country Club in San Antonio.
