Senior Paxton Hair has been selected as the \u2018South Texan Spotlight\u2019 for the issue. Hair just came off a stellar performance at TAMUK\u2019s annual Cactus Cup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He had a hammer throw of 50.61m (160 ft) finishing in first place for the event. Hair wouldn’t stop there though. He placed second for discus throw with a throw of 56.90m (186.8 ft). That throw now places Hair at the third spot with the furthest throw in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Q: Tell me about yourself and where you\u2019re from?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: My name is Paxton Hair, I\u2019m first and foremost a Godly man and I try to be a little more like Jesus each and everyday. I\u2019m originally from Andrew\u2019s Texas where I lived my whole life until I went to college. I grew up playing every sport I could possibly play, but baseball and football took up the majority of my time.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: What are your favorite hobbies outside of athletics and academics?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: Outside of athletics and academics I love to hunt and fish. With God being the biggest part of my life whether I\u2019m on the beach fishing or in a deer stand hunting I always have my bible with me.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: Favorite experience\/moment at TAMUK?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: Some of the best times I\u2019ve had at TAMUK would have to be on Thursday night services at my campus ministry group Chi Alpha. Being able to compete and travel for track has also been one of the highlight of my college experience.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: Heat does your game day routine look like for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: When it comes to my game day routine, usually I wake up extra early and while I eat breakfast I join my dad with a bible study. Once I get ready I throw my headphones on with some Hawaiian music to get me in a really chill and relaxed mood. I also always say a prayer right before I throw because I know I can do the impossible but only with God.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Q: What are your goals after college?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A: Currently I am working on the King Ranch as a hunting guide intern. I plan on staying there for as long as possible and learning everything they have to teach me.
