Madonna, 67, is preparing for a second coming, posting on her Instagram earlier this month that she will be returning to her iconic dance roots in a sequel album.

Although still untitled, The Vogue artist, revealed a complete series of pink-hued posts, captioned an acronym “COADF2” and stating that after 20 years she felt it right to return.

“Back to music / Back to the Dance Floor / Back to where it all began! / COADF- P. 2 2026,” Madonna said on Instagram.

Confessions on a “Dance Floor” was a disco dance-heavy album released in 2005 following Madonna’s flop of “American Life,” which arguably was the one time the Material Girl’s timing was off.

“American Life” unfortunately released months before 9/11 was a politically charged commentary on the political Bush-era climate—a controversial album even to this day- but controversy has been the main feature of the artist.

However, to lighten the mood, in 2005 Madonna would release “Confession On a Dance Floor” and sampled some of music’s most iconic tunes like ABBA’s “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight),” Donna Summer, among others, creating not just an iconic LGBTQ+ anthem record.

The Confessions Tour would also be among Madonna’s most successful, outreaching the iconic Blonde Ambition Tour of the early ‘90s.

The title is a play on dancing through our trauma forcing the listener to confess, confront and release their own.

Madonna has long sinfully flirted with religious atheistic and iconography, so perhaps today, the chaos of the current political and social climate, dancing our way back to confession is the new Cathartic ambition of the iconic artist.

This announcement also follows Madonna’s return to Warner Records, her original home, which she signed with in 1982. Madonna’s past three albums were under Interscope Records, and the artist decided not to renew her contract in 2020 making Madonna a free agent for the past five years.

Although Madonna has not commented on why her renewal with Interscope Records did not take place, one can argue that Madonna’s diva mentality could possibly have sparked creative differences.

However, Warner Records is thrilled to have the Queen of Pop return to her original roots. This could possibly allow the Material Girl more artistic freedom considering it was the birthplace of “Like A Virgin” and “Like A Prayer.”

“From being a struggling artist in New York City to signing a record deal to release just three singles it seemed at the time my world would never be the same again, and in fact that couldn’t have been truer,” Madonna said in a statement. “Since the beginning Warner Records has been a real partner with me. I am happy to be reunited and look forward to the future, making music, doing the unexpected while, perhaps, provoking a few needed conversations,” Madonna said in a Press Release following the announcement.

As the teasers unravel and the hype begins to build, the sequel album can only let us know that Mother Madonna, over the past 20 years, has possibly collected more confessions waiting to burst.

What more does she have to say, and who is in the line of fire in the current American zeitgeist?

But we won’t Get Stupid.
