{"id":12101,"date":"2025-10-23T15:53:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T15:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=12101"},"modified":"2025-12-11T15:58:27","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T15:58:27","slug":"javelina-madness-ignites-the-spirit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/23\/javelina-madness-ignites-the-spirit\/","title":{"rendered":"Javelina Madness ignites the spirit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"\">The lights dimmed, the crowd erupted and a wave of blue and gold swept through the Steinke Physical Education Center music blasting, sneakers squeaked and chants of \u201cGo Javelinas!\u201d echoed off the walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This year\u2019s Javelina Madness was more than a pep rally, it was a celebration of spirit, sweat and school pride that set the stage for another basketball season at Texas A&amp;M University-Kingsville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The afternoon featured performances by the Javelina cheerleaders, the marching band and the Sapphire dance team each adding to the energy that filled the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">As the crowd buzzed with excitement, students shared how Javelina Madness helps them feel more connected on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;\u201cIt really brings everybody together; I\u2019ve met a lot of new people through events like this,\u201d freshmen Bailey Hernandez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;\u201cThere is not much to do on campus so attending the Madness really helps us come out and not just for us to be stuck with schoolwork,\u201d senior Regina Lerma said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">With the high energy and the crowd behind them, the Javelinas are ready to carry that same spirit into the new season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe motivation comes from our players and the excitement and energy they bring in year and year out. Every team is different and every team is unique. This group has so much energy and a competitive spirit that makes coming to work easy and really enjoyable.
