\u00a0 Trick or treating these days is a bigger worry for <\/span><\/span>parents<\/span><\/span>. At Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) , the Continuing Education Department and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) <\/span><\/span>teamed<\/span><\/span> up <\/span><\/span>to<\/span><\/span> giv<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span> back to the community by ensuring parents their children can have a safe Halloween experience at TAMUK\u2019s annual Trunk <\/span><\/span>o<\/span><\/span>r Treat event<\/span><\/span> held Monday<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s an idea to bring the community onto campus …and show that we support the city of Kingsville<\/span><\/span>,\u201d <\/span><\/span>sa<\/span><\/span>id<\/span><\/span> athletic trainer and SAAC advis<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span>r Julie <\/span><\/span>Oberriter<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

University Boulevard is where many outside events are hosted and happen<\/span><\/span>ed<\/span><\/span> to be perfect for the Trunk or Treat event<\/span><\/span> as well<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSAAC wants the community to have a safe place for their trick or treating<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> They can interact with the athletes, get candy and even enter a costume <\/span><\/span>contest<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> E<\/span><\/span>ach sports team is decorating the trunk of a vehicle to park on University Boulevard and pass out candy to the children<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u201d <\/span><\/span>sa<\/span><\/span>id<\/span><\/span> track <\/span><\/span>throw<\/span><\/span>er and<\/span><\/span> SAAC<\/span><\/span> president Madeleine Maltais.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There were plenty of parents, children<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> and young adults all along the boulevard enjoying themselves in the <\/span><\/span>spirit<\/span><\/span> of Halloween and from the looks of the <\/span><\/span>turnout, the<\/span><\/span> event was a success.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 TAMUK strong safety Sean Landez was out at the event supporting SAAC and the Trunk or Treat event as well.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe just want to see all the smiles and costumes and creativity that Kingsville has to offer….It\u2019s actually been an annual thing as long as I\u2019ve b<\/span><\/span>een here and in SAAC the last two <\/span><\/span>years…and it\u2019s been a great turnout each year<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u201d sa<\/span><\/span>id<\/span><\/span> Landez<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
