The Lady Javelina Beach Volleyball team will be back in action hosting a tournament at 10 a.m., Friday, March 1, at the Javelina beach volleyball courts.
\nThe fans will get an opportunity from the beginning of the season to get an up-close look at the 2019 Javelina beach volleyball team.
\nComing off a National title from the previous season, fans have a lot to look forward to and expect from this team.
\n\u201cWe take our reining title very seriously and we are working hard for another one this year; the fans should expect to see more exciting games and with their support another national championship,\u201d senior Madison Brabham said.
\nBrabham, who participates in both indoor and outdoor volleyball, is coming off a very memorable indoor season, earning honors of Lone Star Conference player of the year and First-team All-American for the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
\n\u201cMadi had a phenomenal indoor season. With all her success, I\u2019m confident she will be a very composed and mature beach player this season. I\u2019m hoping her indoor offensive prowess will carry over into her final beach season,\u201d Head Coach Tanya Allen said.
\nAssistant Coach Gary Payne said the beach team has more chemistry this year.
\n\u201cI feel this season we have better chemistry this year than in the past, and we have girls that know the beach game a little better than we\u2019ve had in previous years,\u201d Payne said. \u201cWe\u2019re starting to add and run different offensive sets over the normal, basic offense that most beach teams utilize. I feel we can set ourselves apart from some of the other teams we play with our offense being faster this year and with us adding new defensive sets to help us with our digs and blocking.\u201d
\nAllen added, \u201cWe are working a lot to expand our offense this year, with faster and more varied sets, we are also hand-setting more frequently, that will give us more of a chance to win particularly against better competition.\u201d
