{"id":1877,"date":"2019-02-25T19:27:04","date_gmt":"2019-02-25T19:27:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=1877"},"modified":"2019-02-25T19:31:30","modified_gmt":"2019-02-25T19:31:30","slug":"parking-tickets-average-about-40-a-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2019\/02\/25\/parking-tickets-average-about-40-a-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Parking tickets average about 40 a week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>More than 40 parking tickets are being issued each week on\ncampus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sonia Cavazos, dispatch of Communications Office for the\nUniversity Police Department (UPD), stated that from Jan 14 to Feb. 4, 201\ntickets were issued, with a weekly average of 43 parking tickets from the start\nof the 2019 Spring semester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common issue that Texas A&amp;M\nUniversity-Kingsville (TAMUK) has is students not having a parking permit or\nhaving an expired one, parking in the wrong area or parking in a red zone or\nfire lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UPD observes areas across campus, they help to guarantee the\navailability of parking and the safety of those entering and exiting campus\nlots by enforcing university parking regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parking areas at TAMUK can sometimes resemble a shopping\nmall at times on how packed they are with vehicles. Although some students\nbelieve that the parking lots are too crowded, there are also students who\ndon\u2019t find a problem with parking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cWell I think that there\nshould be more closer school parking. In my situation if I were to drive to\nschool it would be an issue to have to park so far away just because there\u2019s\nnot enough parking spaces\u201d Brianda Barajas, a junior, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others are concerned at the $150 price for a parking permit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cI think it is an\nissue because you have to pay a lot for the parking permits\u201d Ilse Pe\u00f1a, a\njunior, said<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One TAMUK student has a method to ensure she finds parking \u2013\ncome early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is always empty parking in the start of classes. I\ndon\u2019t really find it difficult to find parking spaces, if you get to campus\nearly and give yourself enough time to find a parking space you can find one,\u201d\nCynthia Macareno, a junior, said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 40 parking tickets are being issued each week on campus.
