After presenting the crowd with a rendition of Queen a year ago, the Javelina Marching Band is looking to have fans \u201cThunderstruck\u201d as the band presents the music of AC\/DC during this year\u2019s half-time show.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With more than 200 million copies sold world-wide, the music of AC\/DC will get the crowd on its feet as the Javelina Marching Band performs some of the most iconic \u201980s hits such as Back in Black and Highway to Hell. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Javelina Marching Band is composed of nearly 200 students from all around Texas who join together at the Texas A&M Kingsville-University stadium to put on a show that will captivate and move the audience. Students come from numerous different music programs and organizations, but will all be united by the passion of performing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Marching Band spent a large time in the summer prepping and practicing their routine, perfecting the music and formations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Aug. 29, the public was treated to a run-through of the band’s half-time show, which features the music of AC\/DC.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cSo the idea of bringing all those people together to now have a single unified idea in terms of what our mission is, what is our technique, what are sounds going to sound like are things that are instilled on the first part of camp. After that, putting music on the field and drill on the field is much more simpler in comparison\u201d said Dr. George Schrader, interim associate director of the Bands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe most phenomenal thing is just seeing that they do most of the work,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m there as a guide, but really when it comes down to whose loving this the most, it\u2019s these students.\u201d   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dressed in AC\/DC T-shirts, the mighty Javelinas gave visitors to their open practice on Aug. 19 a small taste of what to expect during the half-time show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cIt\u2019s going to be exciting, fast-paced; it gets me pumped. It\u2019s loud and big and the color guard has a lot of cool energy and choreography. I think this is going to be a show that gets the crowd all riled up,\u201d Marcos Gil, music education major and saxophone player, said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Javelina color-guard showcased its pride as they performed a synchronized routine with the marching  band. Both the band and color-guard showcase hard-work as they prepare a vibrant and uplifting performance for the half-time show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy favorite part is that we are doing songs that everybody will love and enjoy. I think this is a show that everybody can rock out to. AC\/DC is a well-known band, and the songs on our show are fan favorites,\u201d Natalie Martinez, criminology major and percussionist, said.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
