{"id":3445,"date":"2020-02-04T22:03:25","date_gmt":"2020-02-04T22:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=3445"},"modified":"2020-02-04T22:03:25","modified_gmt":"2020-02-04T22:03:25","slug":"dress-to-impress-at-spring-career-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2020\/02\/04\/dress-to-impress-at-spring-career-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"Dress to impress at Spring Career Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Texas A&amp;M University-Kingsville will host an All Major Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the Memorial Student Union Building Ballrooms for students looking for their first job upon graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cStudents should come to the Career Fair with multiple copies of their resume, which should be updated, proofread and error-free,\u201d Acting Director of Career Services Henry Burgos said. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cResumes and portfolios should be reviewed prior to the Career Fair by the Career Services Team,\u201d Burgos said, \u201cto schedule an appointment with staff, please email <em>CareerServices@tamuk.edu<\/em> or call 361-593-2217.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Business casual attire is recommended for students. Students should \u201cdress to impress as if meeting with employers in an interview\u201d Career Advisor Deborah Levensailor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHowever, we strongly encourage that students use professional attire,\u201d Burgos said. \u201cSome employers will interview students during the Career Fair, and knowing that first impressions leave a lasting impression, we strongly encourage students to dress in suits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe recommended attire is always conservative,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burgos also recommends students pick neutral colors like black, blue and gray avoiding bright shades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStudents should expect to meet and network with over 50 employers to explore all available internships and job opportunities,\u201d Burgos said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCompanies such as Citgo, Ernst &amp; Young, Texas Parks &amp; Wildlife, Coastal Plains and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services will be in attendance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students should research the companies in attendance and can find a full list of employers on Handshake under the events tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s recommended students prepare a 30 second or less elevator pitch stating their name, class year, major, relevant experience, and why they are a strong candidate for the job while highlighting their knowledge of the company. Students can find more information on the Career Fair Checklist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStudents can attend anytime during the hours of the fair,\u201d Levensailor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere will be a check-in table for them to sign in and pick up a map of employers to know where each booth is located.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t have professional attire?
