The Texas A&M University-Kingsville football team will be hosting\n a walk-on tryout at 4 p.m., Feb. 19, at Pepsi Field at Javelina \nStadium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The walk-on tryouts will be for anybody interested in \nwanting to be a part of the long tradition at TAMUK. It is something you\n don’t want to miss if you\u2019ve lost your love for the game and have found\n it again. This is the perfect time to come back and help bring the \nJavelinas back to the top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Head Coach Mike Salinas announced \nthere will be a meeting at 5 p.m., Feb. 11, at McCulley Hall. If you are\n wanting to be a part of the team or interested in the tryout you will \nhave to attend this meeting. In addition to attending the meeting, you \nhave to be a full time student at TAMUK with a 2.3 GPA or higher, need \nto have a recent physical from the last calendar year and fill out a \nsickle cell waiver form. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the meeting, all paperwork \nwill need to be submitted by 12 p.m., Feb. 17, at McCulley Hall, Office \n108 to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Academics, Hanna \nLantz. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe want players that fit our program and come to football\n and class everyday ready work and on time,\u201d Assistant Coach Parker \nCundiff said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The coaches will be looking for the best all-around candidate that fits the program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\n opportunity to become a member of the football program requires a \ncommitment of time and determination. We look forward to see who’s ready\n to step up and demonstrate that commitment on the field, in the \nclassroom and the community,\u201d Lantz said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anyone who feels like \nthey\u2019d be a good candidate for the program is highly encouraged to \nattend the meeting and tryout. Next season the TAMUK football program \nwill play 10 games, five of which will be played at home.
