{"id":5013,"date":"2021-02-15T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-15T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=5013"},"modified":"2021-02-16T20:25:58","modified_gmt":"2021-02-16T20:25:58","slug":"vita-files-income-tax-for-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2021\/02\/15\/vita-files-income-tax-for-free\/","title":{"rendered":"VITA files income tax for free"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Each year during tax season volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) provides accounting students the opportunity to learn how to file taxes and help other students as well as community members file for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat we do is we help income taxpayer\u2019s preparer and file electronically for free,\u201d Associate Professor Dr. Genevieve Scalan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program is open to anyone in the community who made a household income of less than $66,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis includes students and even students in other countries who are here on foreign student visas; we can file for them if they need that,\u201d Dr. Scalan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to COVID-19 students and community members have two options when filling.
