Texas A&M University-Kingsville’s Campus Activities Board (CAB) is hosting its first book drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, at the Memorial Student Union Building (MSUB) Pavilion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is CAB\u2019s first-ever book drive on campus [\u2026],\u201d CAB member Sydney Castaneda said. \u201cWe please ask all participants to donate fictional books.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book drive is aimed to celebrate Dr. Suess\u2019 birthday and to jump start National Reading Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI myself am a huge fan of books and last year our advisor, Loreal, started the Javelina Book Nook in the MSUB,\u201d CAB President Lizzetty Lara said. \u201cTogether, our organization decided what better way to celebrate National Reading Month and Dr. Suess\u2019 birthday than host a book drive?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CAB asks participants to donate fictional books only, from children to young adult and adult books. Donated books can be new or in good condition and can range from genres such as: children\u2019s picture books, children’s novel books, classical novels, fiction novels and adult fiction. CAB also asks participants to not donate textbook or music books. All donated books will go to the Kingsville Public Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen students donate, they will be able to get a bookmark themed for the event and spin our prize wheel to receive an Aramark meal voucher among other prizes,\u201d CAB Secretary Eve Schrader said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CAB will be planning more events for the month of March. Upcoming events include a St. Patty\u2019s DIY on March 17, a cooking event on March 30, and an intention bracelet event on the March 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
