It received the best criticism of her career to date, with a score of 88\/100 on Metacritic.&nbsp;<em>folklore<\/em>&nbsp;has recently been nominated for five Grammys, including the Album of the Year category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this surprise announcement, you would think the Swifties would have been keeping an eye out for other clues. This, however, was not the case. Just 20 weeks after releasing\u00a0<em>folklore<\/em>, Swift surprise announced (again) the sister album,\u00a0<em>evermore<\/em>\u00a0on Dec. 11.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo put it plainly, we just couldn\u2019t stop writing\u2026 I loved the ways you welcomed the dreamscapes and tragedies and epic tales of love lost and found into your lives. So, I just kept writing them,\u201d Swift said in a social media post when she released her ninth studio album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only a few days after its release,\u00a0<em>evermore<\/em>\u00a0debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The lead single \u201cwillow\u201d received similar praise to its sister album, getting an 85\/100 on Metacritic.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Swift\u2019s main focus on\u00a0<em>folklore<\/em>\u00a0was to split the tracks from being produced by Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner,\u00a0<em>evermore<\/em>\u00a0focuses on features from various artists including Bon Iver (\u201cevermore\u201d), HAIM (\u201cno body, no crime\u201d), and Marcus Mumford (backup vocals on \u201ccowboy like me\u201d). These collaborations created an indie rock sound to the album, but we also get folk music, grunge and her country roots.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\u00a0<em>evermore<\/em>, the listener can hear how Swift explored third-person storytelling and narratives. While this album does not have the love story triangle as its sister did,\u00a0<em>evermore\u2019s<\/em>\u00a0themes range from forbidden love, neglect in a relationship, heartbreak and forgiveness.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After 145+ listens (according to Apple Music), I am still finding ways to appreciate Swift\u2019s lyricism and storytelling. Some of my favorite tracks on the album are \u201cgold rush,\u201d \u201ctolerate it,\u201d \u201civy,\u201d \u201ccowboy like me\u201d and \u201cright where you left me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, both\u00a0<em>folklore<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>evermore\u00a0<\/em>are masterpieces that complement each other.
