{"id":5706,"date":"2021-07-19T18:09:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-19T18:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=5706"},"modified":"2021-07-14T18:10:45","modified_gmt":"2021-07-14T18:10:45","slug":"tamuk-tiktok-the-javelina-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2021\/07\/19\/tamuk-tiktok-the-javelina-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"TAMUK, TikTok, the Javelina experience"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>University\u2019s\u00a0account reaches\u00a0almost 500 follows\u00a0<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 2 billion downloads of the app worldwide, TikTok has become one of the biggest social media platforms to date. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Because of its extreme popularity, the Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) department decided to create a TikTok account last month to showcase student life on campus through the eyes of a Javelina student.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cAs a marketer, it\u2019s hard not to want to be part of that space but I knew\u202four content would have to be a delicate mix of trend\u202fand helpful content that reflected the university\u2019s brand well,\u201d Assistant Director of Marketing Krystal Emery said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;In order to make sure the social media account had a potential to reach success, it was important the department found the right student to run the account. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;TAMUK\u2019s Student Ambassador Trenton Payne is now the face of Javelina Nation\u2019s TikTok account. Since the first video posted less than a month ago, the account has reached almost 500 followers and over 1,000 total likes on the page\u2019s videos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The videos posted to the account are created by Payne and Jake Gonzalez, a communications specialist.
