A whole new piece on fashion that you never knew you needed. If you’re new to fashion, no problem! Let’s lay out some rules.

Rule number one, don’t let the high end names fool you. Everything can be found at a reasonable price. Rule number two, take in your surroundings. Inspiration can be found anywhere. And that brings us to rule number three, be yourself. Make everything your own.

Take my wonderful friend Rae’s shoes here for example. When I caught my eye on these babies my jaw dropped so much that I was practically at ground level appreciating the fun cow print. So obviously I had to ask where she got her shoes because it’s only humane. Foot locker? Converse? Literally any store at the mall? Nope. Walmart.

WALMART? Yes, Walmart! The white looking converse were under $15 and the cow print? She did that herself with black paint. Rae followed the three rules of fashion to the dot.

First, she didn’t spend $54 on a pair of shoes. Instead, she found a dupe- a cheaper alternative to the high end product.

Second, she took in her surroundings and found inspiration in a simple place. Rae knew that cow print was in and she took that into consideration to stay on trend.

Lastly, Rae made these shoes her own. She sketched out the layout of the prints and chose the color paint she wanted to design a fabulous looking sneaker for a casual on-the-go look.

Rae is a lesson to all, if you’re in the fashion world or not, you can let your creativity shine through anything. Clothes, shoes, accessories, hair, etc are all ways to show who you really are to the world around you. Of course it’s great to stay on trend with the latest styles , but never be afraid to stand out. That’s what fashion was meant for!

Choose looks that correlate with who you are and the way you feel. Feeling spontaneous? Dye your hair a fun color! Feeling one with nature? Wear a long, flowy skirt, lavender headband and grab a book for your accessory (or to actually read). Wear your heart on your sleeve, literally.

To recap, don’t spend so much, find your inspiration and make it your own. Follow these three rules of fashion and you’ll become an expert in no time.

I mean, as long as you wear clothes you’re already off to what seems like a good start. The only way from here is up.

Well this is exciting isn’t it? A whole new piece on fashion that you never knew you needed.
