Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) women\u2019s volleyball team lost their 20-game season win streak to rival St. Angelo on Oct. 1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team is currently standing at an 8-1 seasonal record and a 3-1 Lone Star Conference (LSC) record, according to Javelina Athletics. Javelinas Volleyball Coach Tanya Allen intends to use the St. Angelo game to improve the team\u2019s performance in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are working on lengthening our approaches so we can have more momentum to attack,\u201d Allen said.\u202f \u201cLengthening our approaches will also help us to attack from further away from the net, which will make it more difficult for teams to block us.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In volleyball, momentum is highly important to achieve success on or off the court. With the stress that comes from representing the school, the team intends to keep a positive momentum going with the help from friends, family and Javelina Nation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great support system from all of our families and peers,\u201d freshman middle blocker Ayanna Jackson said. \u201cIt makes the win feel bigger, knowing you have so many other people cheering you on besides your teammates.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team appears to be ambitious for achieving new records and titles after breaking historical records last season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy goals for this team are to try and win an LSC title, an LSC Tournament title, and to make it to the NCAA tournament,\u201d Allen said. \u201cSo far, I feel good about our success; but, it\u2019s still very early in the season.\u202fWe are pushing them to continue to improve and grow.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
