As the Texas A&M University-Kingsville volleyball team returned home this past weekend, they looked to get back in the win column after two tough defeats the weekend prior. The Javelinas were somewhat successful in this task by defeating Western New Mexico by a score 3-0 this past Friday, but they could not keep it going against UT Permian Basin losing by a score of 3-0. The teams overall record is now 12-5 with a 6-5 record in conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSomething this team can do to progress on moving forward in the season is working on the fundamentals. Sometimes we all try to focus on too much but if we just calm down and take a breather, it can help us concentrate on the smaller things. Once we are able to do the smaller movements and take care of the easy stuff then we\u2019ll be able to do so much more,\u201d team member Kailey Estrada said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team will look at the loss and correct what they did wrong. The team knows that they are capable of putting out a much better performance than they did on Saturday. With the next two games being on the road, TAMUK will then return home and to their home fans to face St. Edwards University and St. Mary\u2019s University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI love the support we get from our families and Javelina nation and I feel so fortunate that we\u2019re able to play in front of them again. Their support makes the game even more exciting and it\u2019s awesome to have them in our corner. Being from out of state, I appreciate the love a little extra because they are my only family here,\u201d player Emily Witt said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Javelinas will look to improve on their 12-5 record this weekend when they go on the road to face West Texas A&M on Friday and Eastern New Mexico on Saturday. The Javelinas will then come back home for their final two home games of the regular season before the conference tournament, which it set to begin on Nov. 18 with a chance to bring a conference championship back to TAMUK. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
