Hussey has been announced as the Acting Vice Chancellor and Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&amp;M University effective January 1, 2022.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Texas A&amp;M University System Chancellor John Sharp has named Dr. James Hallmark, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, for the Texas A&amp;M University System, as acting President of Texas A&amp;M-Kingsville until Dr. Hussey\u2019s replacement can be found. A search will begin immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Hussey, who became the 20<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;President of Texas A&amp;M-Kingsville in January 2019, has served in multiple leadership roles within the Texas A&amp;M University System, including Vice Chancellor &amp; Dean for Agriculture and Life Sciences and interim president at Texas A&amp;M University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will always be grateful for my time at Texas A&amp;M University-Kingsville and to the faculty, staff, students and alumni for their support,\u201d he said. \u201cIn leaving, I am confident that the university is well-positioned to continue its tradition of excellence and service for South Texas and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under Dr. Hussey\u2019s leadership, the University:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>developed a new strategic plan guided by a continued commitment to student success;&nbsp;<\/li><li>completed the With You. Without Limits. comprehensive campaign, which raised $114M for the institution; and,&nbsp;<\/li><li>received $45M in funding from the state legislature to address deferred maintenance needs, $1.5M for the University\u2019s Citrus Center and more than $600K to enhance student success.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Hussey is appointed to fill the interim role at Texas A&amp;M University after the current Vice Chancellor and Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences Patrick Stover, announced last week that he would not seek reappointment at the end of this year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Texas A&amp;M University-Kingsville President Dr. Mark A.
