{"id":6850,"date":"2022-03-22T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-22T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=6850"},"modified":"2022-03-21T18:43:53","modified_gmt":"2022-03-21T18:43:53","slug":"save-the-date-annual-spring-fling-is-back-at-tamuk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2022\/03\/22\/save-the-date-annual-spring-fling-is-back-at-tamuk\/","title":{"rendered":"Save the date: annual Spring Fling is back at TAMUK\u202f\u202f\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Event is March 30<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Campus Activities Board (CAB) organization at Texas A&amp;M University \u2013 Kingsville\u00a0 (TAMUK) is bringing back the annual Spring Fling event at 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, on University Boulevard.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSpring Fling is an annual event alongside Fall Carnival that gives approved student organizations an opportunity to fundraise for any events, conferences or supplies they may need for that semester,\u201d Campus Activities Coordinator, Julianne Gomez said.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gomez explained that organizations in attendance are given the choice to sell one food or drink item, host an activity such as games or just be an informational booth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They set up their booths all around University Boulevard, and students get to walk around and support organizations by purchasing different items.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spring Fling\u202falso offers an opportunity for organizations to recruit.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSpring Fling is not only an important fundraising opportunity, it also gives students (who) are not in any to see what else TAMUK has to offer,\u201d sophomore Isaiah Cole said. \u201cBeing a music major, we are very secluded to one side of the campus, so it is very interesting to see other organizations trying to grow their field of study.\u201d\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cole is a member of the South Texas Saxophone Association (STSA). He stated that this year, STSA will be selling chicken street tacos. With the money, STSA plans to purchase a bass saxophone and fundraise for upcoming events.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other organizations like the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers plan to sell mangonadas to fundraise for anything members may need and upcoming social events.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvents like this allow for students to interact with each other and take a break during stressful times like midterms,\u201d senior and member of SHPE Maricarmen Martinez said.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lilly Baird, president of the Criminal Justice Club, explained that the club is selling tornado potatoes at the event.
