The Los Angeles Rams took down the under- dog Cincinnati Bengals in a 23-20 bout to bring another championship to the city of L.A. After a halftime show featur- ing Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick La- mar, Mary J. Blige and a surprise appearance from 50 cent, the Ben- gal’s went into the sec- ond half down by three to the Rams but would then score 10 points in the third to go up 20-16.

This game eventually came down to the last drive of the game by sec- ond year quarterback Joe Burrow and the Cincin- nati Bengals, and after getting some life from a reception from Jamarr Chase, it all came down to a fourth-down play to either extend the drive or end the game for the Bengals.

Thanks to Rams Aaron Donald on that very last play, the play was dis- rupted and the Bengal’s failed to get the conver- sion, securing the victo- ry for the Rams adding a 32nd championship to L.A., tying the city with Chicago for number of professional sports championships.

This Super Bowl was the accomplishment of a lifetime for every play- er on the Rams’ side- line but none more than these players. Lineman Andrew Whitworth, 40, who has started all but four games in his long

16-year career, won his first piece of hardware while also becoming the oldest lineman to win a Super Bowl champion- ship.

Odell Beckham, after all the criticism he re- ceived in his two years with the Cleveland Browns, finally adds a Super Bowl to his re- sume. The NFL’s Hol- lywood player spent seven years chasing this opportunity and in his first season as an L.A. Ram, he seized that op- portunity. Aaron Don- ald, who is the greatest defensive lineman of the Super Bowl era, was missing one thing from the accomplishment list, and that was the Lom- bardi Trophy. The three- time Defensive Player of the Year, only the third player to ever do so, eight-time pro bowl- er, seven time all pro, is now a Super Bowl cham- pion. Donald was a hall of famer before the gold but now it’s a debate if he is the greatest defend- er ever.

More than anyone though, this victory means the most to Mat- thew Stafford. Stafford spent over a decade in Detroit where he spent all his time being over- looked because he was a part of a terrible organi- zation.

Stafford is 34 years old and is currently 12th all time in passing yards and touchdowns and has been swept under the rug as a top quarter- back in the league. After entering the Los Angeles Rams locker room in a trade for Jared Goff, the underrated quarterback became just the second to lead a team to a Su- per Bowl victory in their first season in the orga- nization. Until the next champion is crowned, the NFL once again be- longs to the bright lights of L.A.

Rams win Super Bowl The National Football League has crowned new champions after the showdown at SoFi Stadi- um in Super Bowl LVI.
