In the future, we’re hoping to do something Dia De Los Muertos themed, or maybe host a movie night. We’re always trying to experiment with new ideas and come up with new ways to get the students involved, and we were really happy with how many we got this year.”

The event, which took place from 7 to 8:30 p.m., was held on Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Jones Auditorium. In a series of 10 Kahoot games, more than 100 students competed against each other to win Halloween and horror themed trivia games. To add to the Halloween theme, orange lighting was used to compliment the orange walls of Jones Auditorium with the hopes of making the auditorium reminiscent of a Jack O Lantern.

“We’ve been advertising more with social media, especially Instagram, and it’s been a huge help,” Recruitment Officer Ximena Cantu said. “We’re hoping to plan bigger events and get more word of mouth around campus for our upcoming activities. We’ve got a lot of new ideas and a better chance at getting an audience for them.”

Questions were focused on trivia facts from franchises such as Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street, to questions about the origins of Halloween as a holiday and the beginning of the black cat superstition. The prizes for winning a game of Kahoot ranged from stuffed animals to music speakers. Students were also given a raffle ticket on entry for the chance to win a prize.

The Campus Board of Activities is in charge of student-oriented recreational events. Among their chief responsibilities is the organizing of the Spring Fling, Fall Carnival and Homecoming events.

“It’s super fun,” Director of Programming Erial Hawkins said. “It’s not just a club, everyone here is like my family. It’s a great way to make friends and get more involved in campus activities. The CAB hosts big events like the carnival and homecoming, but we also have a lot of smaller events like this. We always want to try new things and give everyone fun experiences. And we’re always open to new members joining.”

The game night was held for an hour, featuring close to a dozen games. With over a hundred students, there was not a single student that won first place twice. In total, close to 20 prizes were handed out. Bags of popcorn were given to students as they entered and left the event.

To contact the Campus Board of Activities, email julianne.gomez@tamuk.edu, or visit MSUB Room 203A.

No tricks, just trivia for treats Over one hundred Texas A&M University-Kingsville students gathered to compete in a Halloween themed game of Kahoot last week. …

[5

246
post-7917","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-campus
https://thesouthtexan.com/wp-content/litespeed/avatar/1ca73501dfcfe55b84ba0f138a061d3c.jpg?ver=1778701476","0":null,"1":"","2":"","3":"","4":"","5":"","6":"","7":"","8":"
["GET
