Event helps students find their sense of engagement<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

The Student Engagement and Campus Life (SECL) recently organized and offered the Student Organization Fair for students at Texas A&M University- Kingsville (TAMUK) in the Student Union Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With more than 100 organizations in attendance, students received free t-shirts and the chance to win prizes, as well as interact with the communities that make up Javelina Nation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event gives students the opportunity to find which organization interests them so they can join and make new friends along the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Student Organization Fair is important because it gives the student a sense of belonging,\u201d Student Engagement Coordinator Marina Gerragauch said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attending informational events like the Student Organization Fair shows students at TAMUK what the campus has to offer and what they can get involved with. Organizations are also allowed to showcase what they have to offer, which can provide the opportunity for students to gain friendships and work on their networking skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a variety of clubs and organizations students get involved with different activities and communities. President of the golf association Dylan Andrade said they were at the event to recruit new members and introduce the game of golf to students on campus. The golf association is a new club that was recently added to the list of Club Sports and have visited local golf courses such as L.E. Ramey Course and Alice Municipal Golf Course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katya Gamez, an incoming freshman, attended the Student Organization fair to accompany a friend who was participating with a club booth and discovered a club that pertained to her interest in engineering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou get to meet a whole lot of new people, I didn\u2019t know half of these organizations existed, so it\u2019s a good informational,\u201d Gamez said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
