I would love to hear back from students that attended as to how we can make it better,” Dr. Renee E. Weiss, director of counseling services, said. “It’s all about the students and the student body and making sure that you’re successful here at TAMUK.”

This event has been in the works since students suggested that they would like to have more in person events featuring counselors. TAMUK’s Student Counseling Services answered by having an event at which Javelinas were given the chance to converse with them through a more casual environment and allowing them to put a face to a name by introducing themselves to their student audience.

“I think they got to know us and see that we are just common people and that we just want to help and have a conversation and let them know that we are there to help,” Professional Counselor Cynthia Garza said.

The counseling services promote the growth of students with its wide range of free and confidential personal, psychological, academic and career counseling.
