{"id":9516,"date":"2023-10-23T19:36:26","date_gmt":"2023-10-23T19:36:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/?p=9516"},"modified":"2023-12-02T21:22:27","modified_gmt":"2023-12-02T21:22:27","slug":"bonfire-lights-up-the-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thesouthtexan.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/23\/bonfire-lights-up-the-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Bonfire lights up the night"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Students&nbsp;gather for&nbsp;music, food, activities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Texas A&amp;M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) hosted its annual homecoming block party and bonfire on Oct. 12, an event was organized to bring the student body together for the annual event.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the fire was lit students were able to enjoy live music, food and activities such as rock climbing at the block party.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The block party concert was headlined for a consecutive year by senior student and art major Jose Ramirez well known by his stage name Wh\u00e4po.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHonestly, [I\u2019m] honored you know. It\u2019s my last year here [and] I am a senior and I love this school. I love the energy that they bring, the community is amazing I won homecoming king last year and it\u2019s just been awesome the people I\u2019ve met and stories I\u2019ve made are amazing,\u201d Wh\u00e4po said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Multiple artists and groups were present and made their voices heard as they were able to showcase their talents by performing for the student body as openers to the second-time headliner Wh\u00e4po. One of the groups was Grupo Vaquero, one of the various bands and artists who participated in the open mic night a couple of weeks ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cRight now we are part of Grupo Vaquero, you know we come here to have a good time and put on a good show as usual, and if y\u2019all haven\u2019t heard me might as well hear me now.
