With Halloween coming up soon, Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK) plans to bring in students, staff, faculty and the community members of Kingsville together with a Haunted House, hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and a Trunk or Treat, hosted by Javelina Athletics and Student Engagement & Campus Life (SECL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Haunted House hosted by CAB will take place on Oct. 26, and will feature members of CAB and brothers of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity as actors. This event is for students only, and Sophia Yzaguirre, CAB\u2019s Public Relations officer, encourages Javelinas to come out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe haunted house offers an entertaining and thrilling experience, while also giving students the chance to unwind and have fun,\u201d Yzaguirre said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
SECL and Javelina Athletics also teamed up to host a Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 31, and is promoting to students, staff, faculty and the community to participate. Those who attend have an opportunity to not only fill up their buckets with candy, but also compete in a costume and decorating contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a great time for the community to come onto campus and mingle with current students, their organizations and some departments as well,\u201d Student Engagement Coordinator Kelsey Dahlbeck said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katelyn Garza, First Year and Family Engagement coordinator, who planned the event, also said it was an opportunity to mingle with Kingsville\u2019s community in a spooky environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe community should look forward to trick-or-treating, the costume contest and games, and students should look forward to decorating their trunk for the trunk contest and giving back to those in the community,\u201d Garza said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
