Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) has a new club for students who are golf enthusiasts or looking to build new friendships through sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The club is called the TAMUK Golf Association and it began this fall and is already filling up with members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The members of the TAMUK Golf Association are all from many different backgrounds and cities who are looking to be more involved within the university while building friendships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was no golf representation at TAMUK prior to the Golf Association and the Student Recreation Center did not provide golf as an intramural sport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Many of the students noted that the university has a women\u2019s golf team, but there is nothing for non-athletes to participate in golf. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Golf Association President Dylan Andrade is a senior here at TAMUK. Andrade is a kinesiology sports business major who is finishing his last two semesters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur goal is for members to meet new people and build friendships that last beyond our college days,\u201d Andrade said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As president Andrade plans to leave a legacy at Kingsville by starting up the new Golf Association and leaving it behind for students to carry on for years to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The TAMUK Golf Association is \u201choping to give every one of their members an opportunity to compete in tournaments and grow the game of golf,\u201d Andrade said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the club is relatively new all members are welcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The current members made it a point to say that they are an inclusive organization and are welcoming to all people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members say they are open to ideas on how to make the TAMUK Golf Association the best it can be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those interested in joining, the meetings are held twice a month at <\/p>\n\n\n\n
L.E. Ramey Golf Course. The Golf Association plans to play different style matches or in local tournaments depending on how many people join. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anyone of any classification or major is welcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
