From juggling being a graduate student working on his master\u2019s degree to a full-time student athlete, Christian Anderson has set the bar high and continues to shine throughout his last season as a Javelina. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anderson is the starting running back for the Javelina football team and has had an outstanding couple of seasons including this fall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anderson was honored as 2021 All LSC-Honorable Mention and has played in every game since he set foot at TAMUK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChristian has been an extremely hard worker, he has done very well academically and is in grad school right now,\u201d Head Coach Mike Salinas said \u201cWe were glad he decided to come back, he\u2019s been a good addition for us and he\u2019s also the captain of our football team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anderson has been a part of the team for three years and within those years he has excelled as a leader on and off the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe has brought a steadiness to the team, his work ethic is phenomenal, and since he\u2019s been here he\u2019s grown into that leadership role to the point where he can lead by example and vocally as well,\u201d Wide Receiver Coach Jaxson Money said \u201cI think he\u2019s expanded as a vocal leader and he continues to show up to work hard, and that rubs off on our younger guys.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anderson has gained his bachelor\u2019s degree in Kinesiology and is currently working on his master\u2019s degree in Adult Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keeping a balance between both football and school is important to Anderson and he works towards improving this goal everyday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBalancing both is definitely a grind, there\u2019s times I have to do homework while on the bus on the way to a game,\u201d Anderson said \u201cI can\u2019t ever slack in one area because both school and football require a lot of attention in order for me to finish.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After taking a year off from football returning to do what he loved was only one of the many goals he hoped to achieve for himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He cherishes his relationship with his teammates and always strives to push each of them to be their best selves and best athlete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think I\u2019ve met a few of my goals and I\u2019m still chasing some. I think with this year more than ever my goals have been centered around the team more than myself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis has a lot to do with being a senior and knowing I have limited time with the guys I\u2019ve become family with over these last few years,\u201d Anderson said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Being a role model to those around him gives Anderson the motivation to keep going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A fter he wraps up this fall semester Anderson hopes to pursue a career in coaching and teaching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI hope that we have impacted him as much as he\u2019s impacted us and my goal is that we\u2019ve taught him things here that he can carry on into his coaching career and I think because of what he\u2019s done as a player can allow him to be a successful coach,\u201d Salinas said \u201cI do believe he\u2019s going to be a great mentor for some young guys down the road.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next step for Anderson is to graduate in Decmber finishing out this semester strong to grow to be a future mentor to the younger generation of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
