Texas A&M University \u2013 Kingsville (TAMUK) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a canned food drive this month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGiven the current prominence of food insecurity as a financial burden, SAAC members will keep in mind to prioritize projects that aim to alleviate this issue to the greatest extent possible in their future endeavors,\u201d Rachel Steinbarger, assistant athletic director for academic success, said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All proceeds from the food drive will be donated to the Javelina Food Pantry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Depending on the number of cans donated other pantries in the community could receive donations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re getting the word out by posting information flyers on various social media pages as well as telling our coaches and teams about the drive and other events we might have,\u201d Liana Huesca said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
SAAC is always looking for ways to give back to the community and Javelina students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCanned food is one of the easiest ways we can support families in need especially during seasons like Thanksgiving,\u201d Fisher Davis said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
