Are you Going to Vote This November? Why or Why Not?

Man On The Street

This Week’s Question:

Are you going to vote this November? Why or why not?

Name: Sarita DeLeon

Major: English and Communication

“Yes, it seems important. It’s being pushed, this whole idea of silence is the worst thing you could do. I don’t really like the idea being pushed to vote, but again if you take no stance, your silence is a stance.”

Name: Robert Trujillo

Major: English

“Yes, I do plan on voting this coming election. I truly believe my voice matters, as well as many others. I could be the one person that could put that nominee that I vote for to win, or at least lead.”

Name: Cassidy Henderson

Major: Animal Science

“I do not. I am not currently informed on all the politics. I’d like to be more informed if I am going to vote.”

Name: Sarah Alvarez

Major: Communication Sciences and Disorders

“I do not plan on voting for the fact that I am not actually politically involved. I’m not very informed therefore I don’t really vote. I would vote for who my parents are voting for and I feel that’s not fair. Sometimes politics catches my eye but I’m too busy to pay attention on a bigger scale.”

Name: Eric Garcia

Major: Natural Gas Engineer

“No, not really. I just haven’t kept up to date with anyone who’s running. I’m kind of busy with what I’m doing every day, and in my spare time I’m relaxing.”

Name: Kristin Benavidez

Major: Psychology

“Yes, I’ve seen a big push for it and it seems like the right thing to do.”

Name: Briana Benavidez

Major: General Business

“Yes, because I want to see a change in our government. Everyone deserves a voice and I think voting is a great way to show that. I particularly want change in LGBT; I believe everyone should be treated equal.”

Name: Francisco Rios

Major: Geo-Physics

“Yes, I do plan on voting. If you look at demographics, the older generation vote more but the young people have the greater population and we know how the world changes. We understand so much more about culture and have the ideas to change and we can’t do it unless we vote.”
