Four TAMUK subcontractors test positive for COVID-19

Texas A&M University-Kingsville has been notified of four positive COVID-19 cases among a group of subcontractors working on audio/visual technology from June 8-18 in the following areas:

  • Sam Fore Hall
  • Jernigan Library
  • Human Sciences
  • Vet Tech

The four individuals tested positive June 18-19. Effective immediately, all contractors on the Texas A&M-Kingsville  are required to wear face coverings.

As part of contact tracing protocol, the Texas Department of State Health Services Region 11 should contact any individuals believed to have had close contact with the positive cases.

Close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of a person with COVID-19 for 10-15 minutes.

As a proactive measure, the University currently is working to identify members of the campus community who may have been in close contact with the positive cases. That information will assist in the contact tracing process.

Individuals who believe they may have been in close contact with the positive cases should contact Dr. Shane Creel, Executive Director of Enterprise Risk Management at randolph.creel@tamuk.edu .

Members of the campus community are encouraged to continue to self-monitor and are encouraged to get tested should they begin to exhibit symptoms of COVID-19. Testing for COVID-19 is covered for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Texas members with no prior authorization needed and no member copays, deductibles or coinsurance.
