Jones headlining Virtual Night Out Thursday

Virtual Night Out will be hosted at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, online with guest speaker Justin Jones.

The online event is mandatory for all incoming freshman, but is open to all students. It will also be in collaboration with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Director of Student Activities Erin McClure said students can expect to learn about “adapting and staying positive and how to be a leader during these times.”

The event is meant to teach students how to be on-campus leaders through virtual learning.

Virtual Night Out will also give students the opportunity to win prizes. Freshmen should expect to not only discover how to become on-campus leaders, but also learn how to handle the transition from high school to college.

“I’ve never been to one but I do hope that I meet new people and maybe gain a couple of friends after it,” Animal Science major Sierra Sandoval said.

Most freshmen taking a UNIV course will have an assignment based off of the virtual event. Any other students who are not freshmen will also have the opportunity to access the link to join the virtual event.

Jones is the author of two books, his recent being “Finding Your Glasses: Revealing and Achieving Authentic Success,” which challenges the reader to live a successful life based on their core values, according to his website, justinjonesinspires.com

Jones obtained his MBA specializing in Leadership and Organizational Change and is the President/Chief Inspirational Officer of Justin Inspires International, LLC. He is a speaker for professionals and colleges internationally.

The event is sponsored by the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health. The grand prize drawing for the evening is a Nintendo Switch. Register for the 4 p.m. event at https://bit.ly/314CKb2 Register for the 7 p.m. event at https://bit.ly/3kXcD36
