TAMUK Criminal Justice Organization Game Night

Kick Off the Semester with TAMUK Criminal Justice Organization

Texas A&M University- Kingsville (TAMUK) Criminal Justice Organization hosted a game night to kick off this spring semester. The game night was hosted to help students engage and interact with other javelina students interested in starting a Criminal Justice related career. The evening was full of icebreakers and a variety of board games for students. Games played included: Unsolved Case Files, Who? What? When? Where? Why?, Jenga and Uno. The game night took place from 6 to 8 p.m. on January 24th at the Javelina Dining Hall in Room 200.

“To me this organization means a lot I feel it’s a good way to bring people closer into Criminal Justice and law enforcement fields as a whole. I feel like this organization is a good way to get people involved in the college and get people out there to help us out in times of need and with more individuals going into law enforcement jobs,” said Vice President of the Criminal Justice Organization Easton Martinez.

The Criminal Justice organization was created in 2021 by James A. Plank with the hopes to help educate and allow students who major or minor in Criminal Justice or any TAMUK major that is interested in a law enforcement field, a place to go to find out more information. The organization has guest speakers, fundraising events, field trips, game nights and monthly meetings where students can participate and become involved in a campus organization. They are also able to become knowledgeable about the variety of jobs, law enforcement employee perspectives and upperclassmen who are knowledgeable about the course load and classes available.

“As of right now we have several events planned for this spring, one of our biggest events we’re hosting this semester is a banquet scheduled for April at the Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute. That’s going to be in honor of our law enforcement officials and how far our organization has come. One main item of the night will be a scholarship that will be awarded to a Criminal Justice student,” said President of the Criminal Justice Organization Lilly Baird.

The Criminal Justice Organization will host their first spring semester meeting at 5 p.m., Wednesday Jan. 26 at Rhode Hall Room 310. The officers will start off by doing an icebreaker game to get to know new members and will discuss and plan future events and potential fundraising ideas for the semester. Baird, will lay down foundational rules for the club in order for the members to remain members, she will ask for feedback on future event ideas and lead in the form of committees for the Criminal Justice Organization banquet.

“Moving out of my hometown and transferring to TAMUK, I was interested in joining the Criminal Justice Organization to help my future career, meet new faces and getting to know new people,” said transfer student Justice Rodriguez.
