Coffee and tacos on us

Free coffee, tacos for TAMUK students

The College of Arts & Sciences wrapped up the end of the second week of classes with its Weekend Vibes event consisting of a combination of sweet and salty.

The event started early in the morning Sept. 1 with students given a chance to pick up a refreshment with Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee from Corpus Christi, and tacos provided by the College of Arts & Sciences.

The College of Arts & Sciences had events every day starting the week of Aug. 28 to Sept. 1.

“During the summer we took time to plan and coordinate with different departments and different companies to ensure that we had a very nice welcome back for our students. We want to show them that we appreciate them being a part of Javelina Nation,” Coordinator of Student Services for the College of Arts and Sciences Dr. Cynthia Alvarado-Stinson said.

The event lasted for two hours and all throughout that time students were in line to capitalize on their opportunity for a free breakfast.

The event was located in between Manning Hall and The School of Music Education Complex and was full of music majors as well as students from other TAMUK colleges ready to start their morning with a caffeinated drink and taco. As the event went by many students gathered to talk and finish their food and drink before their classes started.

“You get to meet people and get out of your dorm. It’s fun and like, even if you don’t have people to come with, it’s nice to see the different things and different people and make friends,” Senior psychology major Carolina Galaviz said.

Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee is frequently on campus.

“We’ve really developed a good relationship with the students, and we’ve kinda learned their orders along the way. We hope that caffeinating ya’ll [the students] has made your days even better,” Cody Santos, employee for Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, said.
